Hanks, 88, of the Morrisons Cove Home, Martinsburg, formerly of Altoona, died Thursday, April 6, 1995, at the home. She was born Nov. 9, 1906, the daughter of Jesse W. and Edith (Appleman) Malone. She married Neal C. Hanks in February 1930, in Cumberland, Md. He died in March 1965. Mrs. Hanks was a member of the Twenty-Eighth Street Church of the Brethren. She served as treasurer of her Sunday School class and was a member of the women's quilting group. She served as a volunteer for the Red Cross Bloodmobile for many years. Surviving are a son, Joseph Ralph of Sun City Center, Fla.; a stepson, Reed of Boiling Springs; five sisters: Emma Walters of Ebensburg, Gladys Dodson and Betty Frye, both of Martinsburg, and Mary Thornton and Ann Shriver, both of Roaring Spring; a brother, Jesse P. of Altoona; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A sister, Florence Malone, died March 1, 1995. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at J. Gary Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring. HANKS - Funeral services for Ruth A. Hanks, formerly of Altoona, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at J. Gary Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring, by the Rev. George Townsend. Interment in Holsinger Cemetery, Bakers Summit. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles in 1932, and Ted in 1987. Altoona Mirror, Sunday, 9 April 1995
