HANLEY [photo] 1940 Photo Former 12th Ward Constable Dies at Mercy Robert E. Hanley, 80, of 1814 6th Ave., former constable of the 12th ward, died at 1.10 p.m. yesterday in Mercy Hospital, where he was admitted last Wednesday, after an extended illness. He was born at McKee March 23, 1884, a son of Crist and Lucinda (Treese) Hanley, and married Bertha Hueston, who died in 1937. Surviving are a son, Roy, with whom he resided; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a brother and sister, Henry of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Mary Burket of the city. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a former salesman and was first appointed constable of the 12th ward in January 1940, being elected subsequently to the position. Friends will be received in the Stevens Mortuary after 7 p.m. today. Altoona Mirror, August 18, 1964
