For several years he had been in failing health, a constant sufferer from rheumatism. In the hope of relief by operation, he entered the university hospital some time ago. The operation was performed, but he did not rally from it. Mrs. Hanscom was with him at the hospital when the dread end came. The deceased came to Tyrone as an apprentice in the gun-making establishment of his brother-in-law, George W. Harder, and later succeeded to the business. He was a resident of Tyrone for a number of years, removing then to Ridgway where he established a similar business. In recent years, also, he had been a Justice of The Peace at Ridgway. Mr. Hanscom was united in marriage here, with Miss Eunice Patterson, of Tyrone, and his wife survives him, together with two sons, James, who is in the United States Aviation service, and Richard, who holds a responsible position with the Elk Tanning company at Falls Creek. The deceased was a member of the Masonic Fraternity and of the Presbyterian Church. The remains were taken to Ridgway where the funeral services and interment will take place. Mrs. James F. Aults, of Tyrone, a sister of Mrs. Hanscom, went to Ridgway today to be present at the funeral. Tyrone Herald, Tyrone, Pa., March 21, 1918, page 4 1910 Ridgway Ward 5, Elk County census - James M.
