HARPSTER - Dec. 31, 1875, near Frankstown, Mr. Christopher Harpster, aged 94 years, 5 months and 3 days. Mr. Harpster was probably the oldest man in this region. In this one person five generations were represented. He had had 8 children, 48 grandchildren, 120 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. Such a funeral record can seldom be made. Ripe for the grave, his death was easy and emphatically a natural one-like the ripened grain, ready for sickle. Although he for years mingled little in society, yet the immense gathering at his burial on Sabbath was testimony of the esteem in which he was held.
