"Betty" Harpster, 86, of Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle, since February 20, 2004 and formerly of Tyrone, Bellmead Dr. and Shippensburg, died at Forest Park Saturday, December 24, 2005 after a lengthy illness. She was born May 15, 1919 in Tyrone, a daughter of John and Mary Ellen (Clark) Glenn. She was married September 15, 1941 at Winchester, Va. to George F. Harpster who died February 23, 1997. She is survived by a daughter Dr. Karen E. Miles and her husband Philip of Naples, Fla. and a son Dr. George F. "Jody" Harpster and his wife Leslie M. of Shippensburg. Also, four grandchildren: Christopher Miles of North Huntingdon, Jennifer Caporella of Weston, Fla., Drew Harpster and Emily Harpster of Shippensburg; four great-grandchildren: Marissa Caporella, Joseph Caporella, Caroline Caporella and Lily Miles. She was the last of her immediate family being preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. She was a member of the Tyrone Trinity Episcopal Church, a member of the Tyrone Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star; a member of the Ladies Aux. to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Excelsior Lodge 219 and a former member of the V.F.W. Aux. Tyrone. She was once employed as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Samuel Lake in Tyrone. Private family services will be held Thursday, December 29, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone. Interment will be at Eastlawn Cemetery, Snyder Township.
