Due notice of funeral. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Wednesday, November 19, 1879 A Family that Has Been Sadly Afflicted. The hand of death has been heavily laid upon the family of Mr. Ludwig Hartel, No. 1117 Eleventh avenue. Three members of the household - one son and two daughters - have within a little more than two months been called to their long home, all dying of typhoid fever, directly or indirectly. Miss Lizzie Hartel expired at her father's residence about half past 8 o'clock last evening. The young lady had for some time previous to the death of her sister, Mrs. Petschall - whose funeral she was called home to attend -resided in Philadelphia. After the burial of her sister her brother, Louis, was taken sick and died, and subsequently the disease was communicated to Lizzie. She was convalescent, however, and on Friday, Saturday and Sunday was able to walk about the house. On Sunday night she was taken with violent hemorrhage of the bowels, which in the end so weakened her that she died last night. She was a very estimable young lady and her death will be greatly regretted. Three other members of the family - two sons and a daughter - are at present down with the fever.
