He was born at Waterside, Bedford county, July 28, 1882, the son of Joseph H. and Charlotte (Grove) Hartman, and married Elizabeth Cook. Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Harold Glover and Mrs. Paul Martin of Chicago and the following brothers and sisters: J. Russell Hartman of Pittsburgh, Mrs. T. L. Mallam of Juniata, Mrs. George C. Kelchner and Clyde J. Hartman of Altoona and Miss Edna Hartman of Huston, Tex. Mr. Hartman formerly lived in Altoona but had been in Chicago for the past 25 years serving as an inspector for Pennsylvania railroad the past 25 years. He was a member of Albany Park Presbyterian church, Chicago and Woodbury lodge 539, F. and A.M., Roaring Spring. The body will be brought to Altoona for interment.
