CHAMBERSBURG, Pa., February 5. - Rev. Jacob Hassler, a quarter of a century ago one of the best known ministers in the Reformed church in this section of the country, died suddenly to-day at his home at Fort Lodon. He attended communion services yesterday in the church where he was once pastor. Rev. Hassler was born in Mercersburg, this county, in 1824. He had been pastor of churches at Mercersburg, Martinsburg, Pa.; Boonesboro, Md., and Shippensburg, Pa. For some years he was principal of the Blair county institute, which was founded during his pastorate at Martinsburg. He had been in ill health for a number of years. His wife, who survives him, is a sister of ex-Secretary of the Commonwealth William S. Stenger. Morning Tribune, Tuesday, February 6, 1900
