All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ William Cooper Hawksworth, a well known and respected resident of the Second ward, died at his home, 919 Sixth avenue, at 9:15 o'clock last night, of general debility. He had been ill for the past ten weeks and for five weeks had been confined to his bed. Deceased was the son of the late George and Susan Hawksworth, deceased, and was born on May 17, 1842, at Harrisburg. He was brought to this city by his parents when but a child and had practically spent his entire life here. He entered the service of the Pennsylvania Railroad company in 1865 as a blacksmith's apprentice, but meeting with a slight injury, he decided to make a change and learn the machinist's trade which he followed until ill health compelled him to relinquish all work. He was a member of the Eighth Avenue Methodist Episcopal church, and the Pennsylvania Railroad Relief association. He is survived by his wife and three children, Miss Ellen., at home, and Charles and Mrs. Mary Fenstermacher, both of Altoona. He is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. E. M. Paul, Mrs. Anna Stewart, T. A. and George W., all of Altoona. The funeral arrangements will be announced later.
