Hay, Ill and Heart Broken Over Death of Helpmeet, Succumbs - Fourth of Family to Die in Short Time With his wife lying a corpse in the front room of his home, a victim of pneumonia, following influenza, John W. Hay, of 507 Twenty-fourth street, died of the same disease at 9 o'clock last night, and a double burial will take place tomorrow afternoon. This is the fourth member of the family to die within a short time. Mrs. Hay, who died Monday, was stricken with the disease ten days ago, while two days later her husband was taken ill. The death of his wife was a hard blow to Mr. Hay, and he sank rapidly following her demise. Last week, John H. Heller, 2418 Third avenue, a brother of Mrs. Hay, died of pneumonia, superinduced by influenza, while in August her father died. John W. Hay was born in this city March 2, 1887, the son of John G. and Catherine Hay, and was an employe at the East Altoona Round house. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal church and of the P.R.R. relief. One son, Lawrence survives, as do his parents and the following brothers and sisters: James H. and Robert A., in France; Thomas R., in the Spruce division at Vancouver; Mrs. Martha Wollson, Alexandria, Va.; Mrs. Margaret Stafford, Catherine, Pearl, Emily, all of this city. Funeral services for Mrs. Hay will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon, while those of Mr. Hay will be held at the same hour tomorrow afternoon, following which a double burial will be made in Fairview cemetery.
