Helsel, aged 64, for some time employed as an elevator operator at the Mateer building, died at 9.20 o'clock this morning at the Altoona hospital from a complication of diseases. He was admitted to the hospital nine weeks ago from the residence of his son, J. Earl Helsel of 1915 Twelfth avenue. The oldest son, Frank Helsel, was killed in an accident at the Blair Building Supply company warehouse on Jan. 31 last, the father being ill at the hospital at the time of the death. He was born at Sarah Furnace, this county, June 3, 1856, and spent his entire life in the county. He was twice married, his second wife being Miss Clara Smith, whom he wedded twenty-eight years ago. Surviving are the widow and the following children: J. Earl, with whom he resided, Mrs. Walter Dodson of Hollidaysburg, Miss Nellie Helsel, Miss Mary, Miss Bertha and Cloyd Helsel, all of this city. A brother, Edward Helsel of Hopewell, also survives. He was a member of the Brethren church of Roaring Spring. The body will be removed to the son's home at 1915 Twelfth avenue. The interment will be made at Roaring Spring. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., Sunday, February 26, 1922 FUNERAL NOTICE The funeral of George W. Helsel will take place from the home of his son, J. Earl Helsel, 915 Twelfth avenue, Tuesday afternoon, the cortege to leave the home at 1 o'clock, and go overland to the Albright church, Roaring Spring, where services will be held.
