HELSEL [photograph of deceased] Hollidaysburg Aged Resident Called by Death Jesse U. Helsel, 88, of 505 Pine St., Hollidaysburg, died at 4.50 p.m. yesterday in the Altoona Hospital, where he was admitted July 18, after a brief illness. He and Mrs. Helsel would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in November. He was born April 7, 1873, in Hollidaysburg, a son of David and Emma (Kearns) Helsel, and married Maria Dora Carothers of Hollidaysburg Nov. 26, 1896, in the bride's home. Surviving are his wife, three children, Jesse of Hyattsville, Md., Cecil of Philipsburg and Mrs. Helen Louise Wertz of Duncansville; seven grandchildren and a sister, Miss Hettie of Hollidaysburg. Mr. Helsel was a member of the Hollidaysburg Church of God, the oldest member of the Judson Bible Class, and a member of the Macabees. He retired in 1944 as a molder for the McLanahan-Stone Company and served from 1948 to 1956 as sexton at the Hollidaysburg Presbyterian Church. Friends will be received at the Liebegott Funeral Home, Duncansville, after 7 p.m. today.
