Known as Mush, Mr. Helsel retired as a dynamiter from Tel Power, Hollidaysburg RD. He was born July 2, 1915, in Bloomfield Township, Bedford County, the son of Alonzo and Margaret (Brown) Helsel, and Aug. 13, 1937, in Roaring Spring, married Ruth Shehan. Surviving are his wife, five children: Bertha Dick of Hollidaysburg, Nora Imler, Mearl and David of Roaring Spring and Fay Yingling of Claysburg; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother and sister: Raymond of Martinsburg and Hazel Carper of Woodbury. Mr. Helsel was a member of the Albright Church of the Brethren, Roaring Spring RD. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Thompson Funeral Home, Roaring Spring. HELSEL - Services for Norman M. Helsel of Roaring Spring RD 1 will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Morrisons Cove Baptist Church, Bakers Summit. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
