ROY J. HELSEL 

Of 3223 6th Ave., died at 12:50 p.m. yesterday, April 12, 1970, in 
Altoona Hospital, where he was admitted March 20, after an extended 
illness. He was born in Hopewell Feb. 7, 1902, a son of James E. and 
Minnie (Browell) Helsel, and married Dorothy Brandt in Altoona Aug. 26, 
1927. Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Jacqueline Stumpf of 
Woodbridge, Va.; two grandsons, and eight brothers and sisters, Mrs. 
Ethel Imler of Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Minnie Hoover, Clarence, Ellsworth, 
Mrs. Edith Clapper and Mrs. Dorothy Brubaker of Cross Keys and Mrs. 
Thelma Simmers and Edward of Altoona. Mr. Helsel was a member of the 
Grace United Church of Christ. He retired in 1967 as a Welder for the 
Pennsylvania Railroads. Friends may call at the Lafferty Funeral Home 
from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
