Raymond Edward Helsor, a well known young resident of the east side, died suddenly last evening at his home, 906 Third avenue, following a severe convulsion superinduced by tonsillitis. He had been ill but two days and his demise is a great shock to his numerous friends. Last week the youth contracted a heavy cold and later developed tonsillitis. He was employed as a clerk at the Rhodes' grocery, First avenue and Eighth street, and continued at his duties until Monday when he was compelled to take his bed. Early last evening he was seized with a convulsion from which he failed to rally, death occurring at 10.40 o'clock. The deceased was born in this city on January 7, 1896, and was the son of W. G. and Annie Helsor, who survive with two sisters, Katherine and Annie, both at home, and one brother, of Red Hill. Another brother, John Helsor, was drowned three years ago at Port Royal one month after his wedding. The young man was a member of Bethany Lutheran church, the Chickalacamoose tribe, No. 364, I. O. R. M., of which he was sachem; the Haymaker's association, No. 364 1/2, and Council, No. 69, Daughters of Pocahontas. He had been employed for the past three years at the Rhodes grocery and was highly esteemed and greatly respected. Funeral arrangements are not completed and will be announced later.
