She was born Dec. 20, 1870, at Canoe Creek, a daughter of Christopher and Sarah (Dublin) Henry, and in Roaring Spring married Hugh C. Curl, who died Aug. 29, 1956. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was of the Methodist faith. Friends will be received in the Myers Funeral Home after 7 p.m. today. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., October 18, 1965 ________ MRS. CHRISTIAN HENRY Died at 2:40 Saturday afternoon at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. R. H. Curl, 520 Fifth Avenue, after a long illness from a complication of diseases incident to advanced years. She was born 8 April 1837, was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, this city. Surviving her are five children: John A. Henry, of Pittsburgh; E. E. Henry of Pittsburgh; Mrs. R. A. Hoover, of Pitcairn; M. L. Henry, of Altoona; and Mrs. R. H. Curl, also of this city. The Funeral services were held at her late home at 2:30 this afternoon. Private interment in Rose Hill Cemetery. Altoona Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., January 17, 1910 ________ CHRISTOPHER HENRY At 1:15 o'clock Saturday afternoon Christopher Henry, an aged resident of Eighth Ward, died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Hugh Curl, 521 sixth Ave, of diseases incident to old age. He had been in failing health for the past three years. Deceased was born in Canoe Valley, Blair County and was aged 73 years. He passed the greater part of life in the neighborhood of his birth place and prior to coming to Altoona in 1886 had resided in Roaring Spring where he was engaged in following his trade of shoemaker. He was a member of the memorial Baptist Church and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Henry and five children: John A. of Apollo; Elmer, of Pittsburgh: Mrs. Rudolph Hoover, of Pitcairn; and Martin and Mrs. Maggie Curl, of Altoona. The funeral service will take place this afternoon, services to be conducted at the house at 3:30 o'clock. Private interment in Rose Hill Cemetery. Interment was made in Rose Hill Cemetery. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., December 31, 1906 ________ DANIEL W. HENRY DROWNED. - On Thursday, July 6th, as Daniel W. Henry, son of Christian and Sarah Henry, of Frankstown, was crossing the gates of the Frankstown Lock, he struck his foot accidentally against the key of a wicket rod, and fell into the chamber above the gates, and before assistance could be obtained was drowned. IDA MAY HENRY Of 218 East Third avenue, died at 10:45 o'clock Wednesday night at the Albright nursing home after an extended illness. She was born at Roaring Spring, Dec. 23, 1867, the daughter of Peter B. and Catherine (Young) Stern and married Martin L. Henry, who died May 11, 1948. She was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed Church of Huntingdon. Surviving are one son, Crist B. of Cleveland, O., two daughters, Mrs. Ruth I. Hoffman of Altoona and Mrs. Jessie H. Gearhart of Huntingdon, seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Ella McGraw of Altoona and Mrs. Irene Leach of Penn Yan, N. Y. Friends will be received at the Myers funeral home after 7 o'clock this evening. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., September 7, 1956 ________ MRS. MARGARET (SHOENFELT) HENRY A correspondent sends us the following notice of the death of an aged and respected citizen of Canoe valley, this county. Mrs. Margaret Henry died on Tuesday morning, July 1, at the residence of her son-in-law, H. A. Sisler, in Canoe valley, at the advanced age of 80 years and 7 months. Her remains were interred in the Lutheran cemetery, near Yellow Springs, and the funeral services were conducted by Rev. S. K. Taylor, of Williamsburg. In the death of this old lady - the oldest resident of Catherine township, having lived on the farm where she died for fifty-seven consecutive years - we are reminded of time's changes, and that few of the friends of former years are left to perform for her the last sad burial rites. Six children, three sons and three daughters, survive her, There are now living thirty-two grandchildren and eighteen grandchildren. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, July 8, 1886 ________ MARTIN L. HENRY Of 218 East Third avenue, died at 1.20 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the Fitzgerald nursing Home. He was born Dec. 26, 1864, in Frankstown, the son of Christopher and Sarah (Dublin) Henry and was a retired machinist of the Pennsylvania railroad, having retired in January, 1930. Surviving are his wife, Ida May (Stern) Henry; two daughters, Mrs. L. C. Hoffman of Altoona and Mrs. Charlie Gearhart of Huntingdon; one son, C. B. Henry of Cleveland, O.; one sister, Mrs. Hugh Curl of Arch Springs; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Lutheran church, a member of the Eagles and the Altoona Lodge of the K. of P. Friends will be received at the Gilden-Barton funeral home after 7 o'clock this evening. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., May 13, 1948 ________ MISS MARY HENRY Miss Mary Henry of Yellow Springs, died at 3 o'clock yesterday morning at the Altoona hospital of pneumonia and a complication of diseases, following an illness of several weeks. She was admitted to the hospital a week ago. She lived alone in Yellow Springs and was aged 80. Surviving are a brother, Crist Henry of near Altoona, and one sister, Mrs. Rachel Rose of Williamsburg. The remains were removed to Williamsburg by Funeral Director Snavely. The funeral will be held from the Yellow Springs Lutheran church tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, in charge of Rev. J. M. Rearich, the pastor. The interment will follow in the cemetery adjoining. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., January 29, 1921 ________ WILLIAM HENRY, SR. Died at his home in Woodbury at 7 o'clock Monday evening of pneumonia. During the past four years he has sustained several strokes but two weeks ago he contracted a heavy cold. He was born at Yellow Springs, May 18, 1831, and where he lived for a period of fifty-six years since which time he had resided with his son, J. M. Henry, near Woodbury. He was married at the age of 20 years to Miss Hough, who preceded him to the grave thirty-two years ago. He is survived by these children: Miss Mary, Samuel and J. M. Henry of near Woodbury. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Jacob Henry of Hollidaysburg, Christ Henry of Altoona, Miss Mary A. Henry, Yellow Springs, Mrs. Frank Rose of Williamsburg, and Mrs. Susan Hetrick of Marklesburg. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
