Hershberger, a well known Pittsburg division passenger engineer and resident of the Fourth ward, died at his home, 1513 Seventh avenue, at 7 o'clock yesterday morning of nephritis, after a short illness. Deceased was the son of George and Catherine Hershberger, deceased, and was born in Germany, March 20, 1851. He came to America with his parents at the age of 5 years and came to Altoona in 1873 and had since resided here. He entered the service of the Pennsylvania Railroad company soon after coming her and had since been in its employ. He was married in 1875 to Miss Henrietta Burk, who survives with four children - George W. of Youngstown; Edward J., Mrs. Myrtle Brennen and Mrs. Genevieve Kuhn, all of this city. He is also survived by two brothers and three sisters - George, of Pittsburg; Frank, Mrs. George Kist, Mrs. William Schieyer and Mrs. Andrew Dirsch, all of Conemaugh. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church and the P.R.R. Relief association. The funeral will take place Friday morning, with mass at St. Mary's church at 10 o'clock.
