WILLIAM A. HEWITT

Died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Thelma Gates, 228 Fourth avenue,
at 3:40 o'clock Saturday afternoon after an extended illness.  He was
born in Mercer county on Aug. 24, 1859, a son of Robert M. and Ellen
(Newell) Hewitt. His wife, Mrs. Alice (Baumgardner) Hewitt, preceded
him in death.  Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Gates, three grandsons
and one brother, J. A. Hewitt of Kansas City, Mo.  Mr. Hewitt was a
member of the Petersburg Methodist church.  He was a retired butcher.
Friends are being received at the home.
