He was born at Newton Hamilton on Feb. 14, 1869, a son of David and Hannah (Cummers) Hiester, and had resided in Altoona for a number of years, being employed as a machinist by the Pennsylvania Railroad company. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Cora (Nicewonger) Hiester; one daughter, Mrs. W. O. James, and one son, Edward Paul Hiester, all of the city. Two sisters, Misses Nellie and Jennie Hiester of the city, also survive. Mr. Hiester was a member of the Eighth Avenue Methodist church and of the Red Men. Funeral services will be held in the Eighth Avenue Methodist church at 2.30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Interment will be made in Rose Hill cemetery.
