Jacob Higgins Accidentally Shot Himself Last Night. Col. Jacob Higgins, of Johnstown, was found dead in a bath room of the Cambria club house, of which he was proprietor, at 7:40 last evening. By his side was a Winchester rifle which he had evidently started to clean, and in his body a bullet which must have been discharged from the gun as he drew it to him over a trunk. He was cold when found and must have been dead some thirty minutes. Colonel Higgins was born March 7, 1826, in Williamsburg, Blair county. He married Elizabeth R. Snively, of that place, May 23, 1853, and was aged at the time of death, 67 years, 2 months and 24 days. He is survived by his wife and three sons - George S., Daniel W. and John R. Some years ago Colonel Higgins conducted a hotel at Hollidaysburg, and later engaged in the same calling at Henrietta, this county. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., Friday Evening, June 2, 1893
