All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ BETTY JANE HOFFMAN Mrs. Betty Jane Hoffman, age 80, a guest at Altoona Center for Nursing Care and a former Tyrone resident died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005 at 1:10 a.m. She was born Feb. 2, 1924 in Tyrone, the daughter of Richard and Martha Riggleman Haagen. On Dec. 28, 1948 she was married to James O. Hoffman who preceded her in death on Sept. 17, 1982. She is survived by two sons and two daughters: Thomas A. Scott; Monument, CO; Charles D. Scott, St. Charles, MO; Shirley A. Johnston, Huntingdon and Mary E. Burns, Warriors Mark; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister. She was a member of the Northwood Baptist Chapel, the Warriors Mark Grange and Tyrone Auxiliary. She had served as a volunteer for a number of years at the Tyrone Hospital. She retired in 1972 from Penn State University as a milk tester. A memorial service for Mrs. Hoffman will be held Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2005 at 11 a.m. at the Northwood Baptist Chapel with Pastor Tim Tangen officiating. Private interment at the convenience of the family will be made in Grandview Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc.
