On Saturday, November 10th, 1866, at Altoona, Pa., S. Hollinger son of James and Elizabeth Hollinger, aged 20 years. He was an exemplary young man, loved for his kindness of heart, and honorable demeanor. During his prolonged sickness he gave abundant evidence that he had found peace with his God. He has won the prize; and we hope and believe he is now enjoying the full fruition of a blessed immortality. Stephen was one of those brave young men who shed such undying fame on their race during the late rebellion. He was a member of the Forty-third Regiment, United States Colored Troops, and in that awful carnage before Petersburg was wounded to mutilation and in addition to his wounds, he contracted, by exposure to the camp, an affliction of the lungs, from which he never recovered. His fellow soldiers paid him the last tribute of respect, -followed his mortal remains to their last resting-place, and buried him with the honors of war.
