Calvin Hommer, a resident for the past 15 years and former postmaster of Water Street, was found dead in his bed at his home, 658 Washington Avenue, yesterday afternoon at about 3:30 o'clock. Mr. Hommer had been about the home the previous day and seemed to be in his usual fair health. Yesterday relatives endeavored to get in touch with him in the afternoon. He was found dead by his brother-in-law, J. Blair Black, and his wife. He is believed he had died in his sleep during the night. John Calvin Hommer was the son of David and Rachel (Keller) Hommer and was born near Water Street April 20, 1876. On August 7, 1907, at Petersburg, he married Flora Grace Black who died two years ago. He had been a resident of Tyrone for about fifteen years. He was the last of his immediate family. For a number of years, he conducted a general store in Water Street and served two terms as postmaster there. He later moved to Bellwood where he was in the retail milk business, retiring in 1935 and moving to Tyrone. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Tyrone. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was also a brother-in-law of William D. Black, Tyrone; Lynn Black and Mrs. Nora Darr, of Alexandria, Huntingdon County. Friends will be received at the Glass Funeral Home where funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, followed by burial in the Charlottsville Cemetery.
