HOOPER Died at his home, No. 1317 Seventh avenue, at 3:55 o'clock yesterday afternoon, of a complication of diseases. Deceased had not been in good health since last summer, although he had continued at his work until the 4th inst. He was one of Altoona's oldest and most respected citizens. He was born near Loudon, Franklin county, August 14, 1825. IN 1845 Mr. Hooper came with his parents to Baker's Furnace, and in 1848 he entered the service of the Pennsylvania railroad company, and for the past twenty-five years had been a gang foreman of the flange department of the boiler shop under Foreman Joseph Nixon. Deceased was married May 15, 1850, to Miss Mary Orr of Sinking Valley, and besides his wife he is survived by these children: Mrs. Cyrus Wible of Houtzdale, Mrs. James M. Edwards of Conemaugh, Mrs. Daniel Osbaugh, Mrs. George Brant, William Hooper of Altoona and Miss Lizzie Hooper at home. Mr. Hoover also leaves one brother - Rev. P. S. Hooper, of Lykens, Pa., who was summoned here last week - and one sister - Mrs. Abram Van Scoyoc of Tyrone. Mr. Hooper was a leading member of the Eighth Avenue Methodist church. He was also a member of Logan lodge, No. 79, Knights of Pythias, Altoona lodge No. 473, I.O.O.F., and the Pennsylvania railroad relief fund. The funeral will take place from the late home Friday afternoon. Services will be held at the house at 2 o'clock, to be conducted by Rev. J. Ellis Bell. Interment in Greenwood cemetery.
