ANN ELIZABETH HOOVER Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Hoover died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. O. Werft, 1312 Twentieth avenue, at 5:40 o'clock last evening of a complication of diseases superinduced by her advanced years. She had been ailing for some months. Deceased was the daughter of David and Ann Baird, deceased, and was born near Frankstown on July 26, 1837 and many years of her earlier life were spent in Huntingdon county. She was married on September 24, 1855 to George Cable and to this union were born four children of whom Mrs. John E. Campbell, of this city, is the only survivor. Mr. Cable was killed near Tyrone early in 1866, and on December 8, 1867, she was married to Rudolph Hoover, of Woodbury, Bedford county, who preceded her to the grave about sixteen years ago. The surviving children to this union are, Rudolph B., of Murrysville, Pa.; Miss Bertha, Mrs. A. O. Werft, Mrs. L. F. Briggs, Mrs. J. R. Barr and Rinehart R., all of Altoona. She is also survived by these step children, Elias Hoover, of Chicago; George Hoover, of Woodbury; Mrs. Thomas Ake and Mrs. William Hartman, of Johnstown, and Mrs. William F. Cromwell, of Bedford. She is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren and by seven great-grandchildren together with these brothers and sisters, John M. Baird, of Topeka, Kan.; Franklin P. Baird, of Milan, Ill., and Mrs. Martin Gorman, of Roaring Spring. About twenty-five years ago she moved from the Hoover farm in Bedford county to Altoona and had since resided here. For the past two years she had made her home with her children. In early life and until her marriage with Mr. Hoover she was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and since then she had been a consistent member of the Church of the Brethren. Her life was quiet and unostentatious but through her lovely Christian character and kind and gentle manner she made many friends who will be saddened by the news of her death. The end came peacefully with all her children but two at her bedside. The funeral services will be held at the home Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by her pastor, Rev. W. S. Long, assisted by Rev. E. R. Heckman. Interment will be made in Oak Ridge cemetery. Friends may view the remains this evening from 7 to 10 o'clock and Thursday from 1 to 10 p.m. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Wednesday Morning, December 13, 1916
