Hoover, wife of Mr. Samuel Hoover, at one time treasurer of Blair county, and a lady who was well known in this community and also in Williamsburg, died at the home of her son, John J. Hoover, at Leavittsburg, Trumbull county, Ohio, on the 28th ult. Mrs. Hoover was born in Cumberland county, in this state, on the 16th day of May, 1816. She was a good Christian woman and was greatly esteemed by all who knew her. Her sons, all of whom were at one time well known in our town, were Publias, Quinn, James and John Hoover. THE LATE MRS. ELIZABETH HOOVER. By reference to our Hollidaysburg letter it will be seen that Mrs. Elizabeth Hoover, wife of Samuel Hoover, died at her home in Massillon, O., a few days ago. The writer first knew Mrs. Hoover when her husband was postmaster at Williamsburg, under the Fillmore administration, and from that time forward, as did all who knew her respected her for her many good qualities of head and heart. With her family she removed from Williamsburg to Hollidaysburg about the year 1857 and some years afterward to Massillon. She was a woman of superior mind and an earnest Christian, having been an earnest and faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal church. We sympathize with those who have sustained the painful loss involved in her death, but they sorrow not as those without hope. Altoona Tribune, March 14, 1889
