On last Thursday evening at Cresson, about 4 o'clock, James R. Hoover, while flagging a train, stepped out of the way of the approaching train and unfortunately stepped in front of an empty engine which was passing by, and was hurled from the track and instantly killed. He was born December 7, 1873, being aged at the time of his death 25 years, 10 months and 12 days. He was married to Miss Laura Brubaker on the 29th day of July, 1898. He was employed on the floating gang, at Gallitzin, of the Pennsylvania Railroad company. His life was that of a Christian. He was ever trying to do good. He was a member of the Dunkard Brethren church and chorister in the same. Besides his wife he leaves one child. He was esteemed and respected by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. The funeral, on Saturday afternoon, was largely attended, a number of people being unable to get into the church.
