Hoover, well known resident of the Sixth ward for the past 25-years died at his home, 2316 Fifth Avenue at 2 o'clock Sunday morning after being ill but a few hours. His death was caused by heart trouble induced by pneumonia. Mr. Hoover had suffered from a cold for several days but had gone to bed Saturday night feeling but slightly indisposed. Within a short time he became seriously ill and, despite medical attention, died. He was born in Germany June 19, 1862 and came to this country and directly to Altoona 42 years ago. He entered the service of the PRR shortly after arriving in Altoona, working as a sheet metal worker, in the 12th Street tin shop, having learned the trade in Germany. He was united in marriage with Miss Mary Welch who survives with three sons and one daughter, Anthony A. Hoover of this city; Mrs. P. Edmund Riley of Sunbury; John P. Hoover of this city, and George W. Hoover, at home. Three grandchildren and two brothers, William P. Hoover of this city and Frank Hoover of Cleveland, also survive. Mr. Hoover was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and of Columbus council, No. 1209, Young Men's Institute of which organization he was a past president. He was also a member of the tin shop floral association. The funeral will be held Wednesday morning with requiem mass at 9 o'clock in St. Marcy's church.
