S. and F. Hoover, aged 3 months and twenty-eight days. On the threshold of life's busy tide, Dear Lyman was taken away, To the mansions of our Lord did provide, In the realms of eternal day. Dear God! the affliction is sore, To part with our dear little boy, But the riches which thou hast in store, Should turn all our grief into joy. In all our afflictions and cares, Let one assurance alone be our guide, That the infantile state is secure, That for then the Lord did provide, So in giving! Great God! 'tis hard, (Our own natural ties so strong) We should give like that old ancient bard, Who said, "Not to us but to God they belong" - R.S.H. Bedford papers please copy.
