Miss Martha Hoover, aged 27 years, the daughter of John I. Hoover, a Claysburg farmer, and a dressmaker by occupation, was found lying dead on the floor of the front parlor of the Kellerman house, Gaysport, yesterday morning at 5 o'clock. Miss Hoover was a hotel guest, and also a friend of the family of A. L. Rutherford, the landlord. She retired to her room Thursday night at 11 o'clock apparently in good health. During the night she arose, dressed, and went down to the parlor, presumably to relieve a sudden attack of illness, and there died before relief came. Dr. George W. Smith was summoned. He pronounced the cause of death to be apoplexy. Miss Hoover and her father came to the Kellerman house last Wednesday. She was to accompany her father home to-day. Coroner T. C. McCartney held an inquest over the remains yesterday morning. The testimony of four witnesses was heard. Mr. Hoover testified that his daughter had been a sufferer from apoplexy. The jury found that the deceased had died of natural causes. In addition to her parents the deceased is survived by one sister, Mary, and two brothers, George and Charles. The remains were taken last evening to Claysburg, where they will probably be interred on Sunday. Morning Tribune, Saturday, July 1, 1899
