"Jack" Hopkins, 71, of 2054 Riddle Ave., Tyrone died September 20, 2003 at 12:20 p.m. at home. He was born October 4, 1931 in Bellwood, a son of Russell Campbell and Evon Miller. He was raised in the home of his grandparents Harry and Eva Miller. On August 24, 1962 in Cumberland, Maryland he married Patricia E. Fleck. She died October 6, 1999. Surviving are two daughters, Jodi Wineland and husband John and Jackie Burns and husband Dave all of Tyrone, a son Dennis and fiancee Crystal of Duncansville, five granddaughters, four brothers, Kenneth Hopkins and Jeffrey Hopkins both of Tyrone, Rodney Campbell and Edward Campbell both of Boiling Springs and a sister Charlotte Gayman of Boiling Springs. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Mr. Hopkins retired in 1995 from the Chicago Rivet and Machine Company, Tyrone as a machine operator following 28 years service. He was previously employed at Ray Burial Vault, Tyrone and James Industries, Hollidaysburg. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church, Hookies Fire Company and the Graystone Hunting Camp, Warriors Mark. He was a 1949 graduate of Bellwood High School. He was an avid hunter and had played softball and baseball in various local leagues. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict serving as a Sergeant First Class with the 35th infantry and was awarded the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 24, 2003 at 11 a.m. at the Feller Memorial Home with Pastor Douglas Mottin officiating. Interment with veterans honors will follow at Blair Memorial Park, Antis Twp. Friends will be received at the Feller Memorial Home on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Tyrone Daily Herald, September 22, 2003
