Mrs. Samantha Housel, mother of Mrs. Ed. F. Whitman, of 707 Lexington avenue, died at her daughter's home at 11:30 yesterday morning, from diseases incident to old age. She was born July 22, 1826, in New Columbia, Pa., and was a resident of this city fourteen years. She was the wife of the late Joseph R. Housel, a Civil war veteran, who died in 1876 at Milton, Pa. Besides her daughter at whose home she died, Mrs. Housel is survived by four sons - Foster, of Milton; James, of Williamsport; G. S., of Montgomery, and J. Manford, of Cleveland, O. She was a member of the Eighth Avenue Methodist Episcopal church. Private funeral services will be held at the daughter's home this morning, after which the remains will be taken to Milton for interment on the 12:30 train.
