Mrs. Mary Houseman, widow of Jacob Houseman, died Thursday morning at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Francis Rooney, Fifth avenue, between Fourteenth and Fifteenth streets. Deceased was a member of the Second Lutheran church. She leaves eleven children to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate mother. These are Daniel and Andrew Houseman, Mrs. Francis Rooney, Mrs. D. Burns, Mrs. C. Robinson, Mrs. H. Goss, Mrs. Thomas Pardoe, Mrs. Nannie Piaget, Mrs. Jane Dysart, Mrs. Catharine McCurdy and Miss Irene Houseman. There is one son missing. He was a soldier in the war of the rebellion, and none of his family have heard anything of him up to this date. They have no knowledge whether he fell in battle, or anything that would confirm his death. Mrs. Houseman was 76 years old. Altoona Tribune, February 7, 1889
