Houser died at his home, 1015 Second avenue, at 6:10 o'clock Saturday evening, of a complication of diseases, resulting from a fall last August. He was born in Aldinger, Germany, December 23, 1863, came to Altoona at the age of 14 and resided here ever since, being an employe of the Pennsy for thirty-three years, working in the No. 2 erecting shop. He was married on May 17, 1887, to Miss Mary Ritz, of Gallitzin, who, with one son, Frederick, of this city, survive. Six grandchildren also survive. He was a member of the German Evangelical church, Concordia and Frohsinn Singing societies, German Beneficial association and the P.R.R. relief. Funeral services will be held from his late residence at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon. Burial in Oak Ridge cemetery. Altoona Tribune, Tuesday, May 28, 1918, page 10
