After an illness from kidney troubles covering a period of seven years, Mr. Jesse Howarth, a highly respected citizen of Altoona, died at his residence, No. 510 Sixteenth street, on Saturday morning, aged 64 years. Although he had been ill for such a long period, he was able until about one year ago to work at his trade, that of a machinist. He had been in the employ of the Pennsylvania railroad company for the past twenty-five years and had enjoyed the respect and esteem, not only of his employers, but his shopmates as well. He leaves a wife and three children - William, Jesse and Harry - aged 20, 16 and 13 years respectively. All three are children of his first wife and the mother of Hugh and Joseph Butler, of this city. Mr. Howarth was a member of St. Luke's Protestant Episcopal church, and also a member of the order of Knights of St. George. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., January 31, 1889
