At 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon Mrs. Bertha Howe, beloved wife of Mr. Joseph Howe, died at her home, 1535 Tenth street. She had been ill for the past four months, a sufferer from numerous troubles, and death, therefore, came as a great relief. The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James O. Hughes, of this city, and was 24 years of age on the 20th of the present month. On June 21, 1899, she was married to Mr. Howe who survives her as do her parents, and also eight brothers and one sister - John, Henry, Charles, James, Ralph, Clyde, Robert, Arthur and Miss May, all of this city. Mrs. Howe was a member of the Eighth Avenue Methodist Episcopal Sunday school in which she took great interest. The body will be taken to-day to the residence of her parents, 1603 Sixth avenue. The funeral arrangements will be announced later. Altoona Morning Tribune, July 27 1900
