Annie Gertrude Hughes, widow of Joseph Hughes, late of this place, died at her home here of tubercular trouble at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 21, 1918. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Gorman and was born at Ore Hill, December 24, 1885, and was aged at the time of her death 32 years, 6 months and 27 days. Besides her parents, she leaves to mourn her loss these children: Frances, Vera, Norman and Orville, the oldest of whom is 13 years of age, and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Minnie Mock, of Braddock; J. R. Gorman, of Philadelphia; W. H. Gorman, Mrs. Pearl Hughes and Blanche Gorman, of Mines. She was married to Joseph Hughes on March 2, 1905, and lived with her husband until the time of his death, which occurred June 1, 1915. She was a kind mother and a good neighbor and will be missed by her many friends. The funeral was in charge of A. K. Bechtel & Son, and services were held in the Mines Methodist Episcopal church on Tuesday afternoon and conducted by Rev. Patterson, of Barbara.
