  Word was received on Thursday from Ontario, Canada, announcing the 
death of Mrs. Elizabeth Hughes, who was born at the Carles' homestead 
in this township, August 15, 1834, being a daughter of William and Mary 
Carles, now deceased.  Three full brothers and several half brothers 
survive.  Mr. Christ. Carles and William Carles of this place and H. V. 
Carles of 921 Twenty-third avenue, Altoona, are the full brothers.  The 
deceased left Blair county many years ago and is known to the older 
inhabitants of this community, who will be sorry to learn of her 
demise.
