Hughes, age 74, of 601 Oak Street, Tyrone died Monday, Nov. 3, 2003 at 1:26 A.M. at Epworth Manor. She was born Jan. 13, 1929 at Tyrone, the daughter of S. Neal and Anna Henderson Burnham. On September 29, 1951, at the First Presbyterian Church she was married by the Rev. Robert L Hutchinson, to Robert C. Hughes, who proceeded her in death on July 27, 1988. Surviving is a daughter, Ann, wife of Michael J. Rourk of Dry Ridge, KY; a son, Robert B. Hughes and his wife Barbara of Muncy, PA; and five grandchildren-Jon, Joshua and Megan Rourk and Kevin and Scott Hughes. Also surviving is a sister, Mary B. Grossman and her husband Warren, of San Francisco, CA; a brother, Sam Burnham; and a sister-in-law Carol Brantner and her husband Jack, all of Tyrone. Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles F. Burnham. Mrs. Hughes was a graduate of Tyrone High School and was valedictorian of the Class of 1946. She served for a number of years on the General Advisory Board of the Vocational Department of the school. She was a long-time employee of the First National Bank and retired from Mid-State Bank after almost 40 years in banking. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as Treasurer of the church for 17 years. She was a member of the Westminster Choir and the former Speer Bible Class. A Memorial Service for Jane B. Hughes will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at 11 A.M. at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Robert Dunkleberger officiating. Interment will be in Blair Memorial Park. Flowers for the service will be provided by the family.
