HUGHES Retired from the Pennsylvania railroad as a switchman in the Altoona yard, died at 1.30 o'clock this morning at his home, 100 Bell avenue. He was retired on Oct. 1, 1943, after serving the company since 1899. He was a son of Charles and Mary McConnell Hughes. Surviving are his wife, who was Emma C. Helsler, and one brother, Frank P. Hughes of Cleveland, O. Mr. Hughes was a member of St. Mark's church, Holy Name society, Knights of St. George, branch No. 231, Eagles, B. of R. T. and Yard association. Friends will be received at the Jones funeral home after 7 o'clock this evening. HUGHES - Funeral services for Thomas H.
