Hunter, 77, of RD 3, Altoona died Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at his residence. He was born March 2, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan, a son of Virgil P. and Mary A. (Friday) Hunter. On February 2, 1957 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sinking Valley he married Joyce Shill. She died April 10, 2000. Surviving are three daughters, Lee Anne Ayers and husband Tim, Phyllis Hunter, and Lori Cushion and husband Rich all of Altoona and two grand grandchildren, Matthew Cushion and Brittany Ayers. Mr. Hunter retired in 1994 from Chicago Rivet and Machine Company, Tyrone as a machinist following 38 years service. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sinking Valley where he had been a member of church council and had served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher. He had formerly bowled in the Friday Night Mixed Bowling League at Holiday Bowl, Altoona. He was a 1950 graduate of Tyrone High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War serving as a Specialist 3 in Japan. Virgil enjoyed gardening. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 4, 2007 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends will be received at the Feller Memorial Home on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the church Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
