After the train got under way, he jumped off, and in the act, his head struck the steps of the car, fracturing his skull; he however was able to walk to his room, at his father's residence. His mother followed him to his room, and seeing that something was wrong, asked him if he was sick? to which he answered yes. This was the last word he spoke. He grew worse until three o'clock on Friday morning, when death relieved him from suffering, and on Saturday morning was followed to his final resting place by a large and sorrow-stricken concourse of people. This sad occurrence should serve as a warning to boys, who are in the habit of indulging in this dangerous experiment. Tyrone Herald, Tyrone, Pa., September 13, 1867
