Martin Bell Hutchison, a native of Hollidaysburg, died recently at St. Joseph's hospital, Ottumwa, Iowa, where he had lived for a number of years. Last Friday morning he was operated upon for appendicitis and peritonitis developed, which caused his death. Mr. Hutchison was one of the most active business men of Ottumwa; he was thoroughly public spirited and deserved much credit for the showing of the second and third Liberty loan campaigns. Mr. Hutchison's name has been prominent for years in banking and lumbering circles. He was born in Hollidaysburg, January 5, 1860, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hutchison, and one of eight children, five of whom still survive. Mr. Hutchison was a member of the Presbyterian church, where he had been a trustee for a quarter of a century. He was married on April 25, 1888, to Miss Inez B. Jordan. Mr. Hutchison is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Laurence Morrissey, of Davenport; Mrs. Robert McWaid, and by four sisters and one brother, as follows: Mrs. Mary Norton, Mrs. Margaret Alexander, Martha Hutchison and James Hutchison, all of Hollidaysburg, and Mrs. Nettie Wilson, of Shenandoah.
