Hyde, age 80, formerly of 1049 Jefferson Ave., Tyrone, and a guest at Epworth Manor died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005 at 3:30 a.m. at the Manor. He was born July 30, 1924 at Sandy Ridge, the son of William and Elsie Coudriet Hyde., On June 29, 1946 in Tyrone , he was married to Lois Ann Reeder who is a guest at Epworth Manor. He is survived by three sons: Charles L. Baughman and his wife Angela of Roaring Spring, Terry Hyde and wife Jane of Tyrone and Jeff Hyde and wife Sharon of Ridgefield, CT; four grandchildren: Michelle, wife of Robert Rudasill of Tyrone; Terry and wife Elizabeth Hyde of Cantonsville, MD; Aislinn Hyde and Emma Hyde, both of Connecticut; two great grandchildren: Dustin and Skylar Rudasill, both of Tyrone. Also surviving is a sister Sara Jane Calderwood of Tyrone and former daughter in law, Bonnie Baughman of State College. He was preceded in death by a sister, Gertrude Hyde Reese of Erie. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and of Anderson Denny Post #4559 V.F.W. and Howard Gardner American Legion Post #281. He was a graduate of Philipsburg High School Class of 1942. He was a veteran of World War II with service in the European Theatre with the 83rd Infantry Division (Thunderbolts) and participated in the D-Day Invasion and was the recipient of five Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He had been employed as a freight conductor in the Pittsburgh Division of Conrail, retiring in 1984. Funeral service with flag presentation for Samuel H. Hyde will be Tuesday, Feb. 15th at 11 a.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone with Reverend Charles A. Fitzgerald officiating. Interment in Blair Memorial Park will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1004 N. Juniata Street, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
