Mrs. Sarah Ickes, wife of Henry Ickes, residing at No. 1123 Ninth avenue, died a 9 o'clock Friday morning at the residence of her husband, aged 69 years, 6 months and 24 days. For more than a year past she had been ailing from a complication of diseases, but during which time she was able to be about and attend to her household duties. About one week ago she was compelled to take her bed, and since that time gradually grew worse and died at the hour above stated. Mrs. Ickes was born a St. Clairsville, Bedford county, on January 13, 1819, and was the daughter of John I. Ake, deceased, of that place. In the year 1865 she took up her residence in this city and since that time lived in the brick homestead near Mackey's planning mill. She had many friends here who will be pained to learn of her death. She was a consistent member of the Eighth Avenue Methodist Episcopal church, and her life was a Christian one, she dying in the full faith of a blessed Redeemer. One son, David, survives her.
