IGOU One of Bellwood's leading pioneer residents, died at noon yesterday in the home his father built in 1830 in Hensheytown. He was born in the home on March 23, 1864, a son of James M. and Amelia (Hunter) Igou, his father having been one of the first blacksmiths locating in what was then known as Davidsburg. As a young man he taught school at Tipton Hollow mines, Riggles gap, Penny Royal, Beach Grove, and other schools in and about Bellwood. Later he served as timekeeper at the Kerbaugh plant, from 1905 until 1917, and in later years worked at the Watts farm, until retirement in 1933. The Igou home has been visited by many persons interested in Mr. Igou's collection of curios and antiques. Mr. Igou was of the Presbyterian faith, a member of the Blair County Historical society and a former member of the Blair County Alpine club. On Aug. 22, 1918, Mr. Igou married Daisy Daugherty of Harrisburg. Surviving are his wife and a sister-in-law, Miss Eaton, who resided at the home. Friends will be received at the Laughlin funeral home after 6 o'clock this evening. Altoona Mirror, January 9, 1940, Page 16
