On Wednesday, October 18, Jonathan Ike died at his home at Gardner, Centre county, after an illness of seven weeks. Born May 25, 1814, he was aged 85 years, 4 months and 23 days at death. Deceased was born near Hollidaysburg, where his early life was spent. About thirty-five years ago, with his family, he settled at Gardner's station, in Centre county, where he has since lived. His occupation was that of a farmer and he was well known by the older citizens of the community. He was a member of the United Brethren church. Morning Tribune, Monday, October 23, 1899 AN OLD CITIZEN. Jonathan Ike Died at His Home at Gardner From Old Age. Jonathan Ike died at his home at Gardner at 10.30 last Wednesday from disease incident to old age. He had been ill about seven weeks. Born May 25, 1814, he was aged 85 years, 4 months and 23 days at death. Deceased was born near Hollidaysburg where his early life was spent. About thirty-five years ago with his family he settled at Gardner's station in Centre county, where he had since lived. His occupation was that of a farmer. He was well known by the older citizens of the community. He was a member of the United Brethren church and the funeral services were conducted at the Allegheny chapel by Rev. Mr. Newell at 9 o'clock Friday forenoon. Interment at Baughman cemetery. The wife of the deceased, Mrs. Ellen Ike, survives and is aged 76 years. These sons and daughters survive also: Mrs. Catharine Gardner, of Vail; Mrs. Sarah Dipou (?), of Osceola Mills; David Ike, of Clearfield; Mrs. Mary E.
