Irvin, 88, of 420 Hancock St., Northwood died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003 at 5:55 a.m. at Beverly Hillview, Altoona. He was born June 18, 1915 in Northwood, a son of Harry E. and Edna M. (Decker) Irvin. On Aug. 3, 1935 in Cumberland, Md. he married Edith M. Gensimore. She died April 4, 1996. Surviving is a daughter, Patricia Fenaes of Panama City, Fla.; a son, Gene Edward Sr. of Northwood; five grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys Templeton of Vail and Anna Dillon of Northwood; and a brother, Thomas A. Irvin of Philipsburg. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anna Lea Feneas. Mr. Irvin retired on Sept. 1, 1977 from Westvaco, Tyrone as a truck driver and crain operator following 41 years of service. Since his retirement, he has been associated with his son in the operation and maintenance of Irvin Trucking in Northwood. He was a member of the Howard Gardner American Legion No. 281 and was a loyal supporter of the Northwood Baptist Church. He was a bowler for 50 years, belonging to several area bowling leagues. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving as Seaman Second Class with the Corp of CB's. Funeral services will beheld Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Feller Memorial Home with Pastor Timothy Tangen officiating. Interment will follow at Arch Springs Cemetery in Sinking Valley. Friends will be received at the Feller Memorial Home on Friday from 6-9 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
