IRWIN CALLED BY DEATH Former Assemblyman and Register and Recorder Passes Away Yesterday Hon. William H. Irwin, one of the city's well known business men, an ex-member of the state legislature and former register and recorder of Blair county, died at his home, 1019 Chestnut avenue, at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon of a complication of diseases. He had been in failing health for the past several years, was able to be about until a week ago. Mr. Irwin was aged 60 years and back some twenty years ago was prominently in political affairs. He was register and recorder of the county for six years and also represented Altoona in the legislature at Harrisburg for two terms, serving from 1905 to 1908. He was also identified with the business activities of the city and for some years was associated with the late Charles Miller in the insurance and real estate business. After Mr. Miller's death he continued the business until his health compelled his retirement a few years ago. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church, Hiram lodge, No. 616, Free and Accepted Masons, Mountain commandery, No. 10, Knight Templar; Mountain Royal Arch chapter, No. 187, Jaffa Shrine and the Knights of Pythias. He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Clara Copley; two sisters, Misses Jennie and Anna, both of this city; and two brothers, Joseph Irwin, of this city and David Irwin, of Antis township. The funeral will be in charge of Hiram lodge of Masons and will take place Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Interment will be made in Fairview cemetery.
