Death was due to kidney trouble and arterial sclerosis. He had been in failing health for about a year and five weeks ago, in company with his wife, he was taken to Atlantic City. The sea air at first seemed to make some improvement in his health, but on Friday he suffered a relapse and did not rally. Mr. Jackson was a member of a prominent Hollidaysburg family, being the son of William and Catherine Jackson and was born in Hollidaysburg 67 years ago. He was admitted to the Blair county bar Jan. 27, 1875, and in years gone by was one of the most prominent and active members of the bar. He served one term as district attorney of Blair county, his term ending with January, 1881, when he was succeeded by J. D. Hicks. For about fifteen years he was a resident of Galveston, Texas, where he went to accept the position of land agent for the Santa Fe Railroad company. About ten years ago he returned to Blair county and since has been practicing law here. His wife prior to her marriage was Mrs. Etta Reynolds. She alone survives. Mr. Jackson was a member of the Presbyterian church of Hollidaysburg for many years. The body, accompanied by the widow, arrived in this city last night and was removed to the family home in Gaysport. Upon learning of the death of Attorney Jackson, Thomas H. Greevy, president of the Blair county bar association appointed the following committees to take appropriate action relative to the death of their brother attorney: Resolutions, Matthew Calvin, William L. Woodcock, A. V. Dively, J. D. Hicks and O. H. Hewit. Followers, Frank H. Fay, J. Austin Sullivan and John M. Snyder. The funeral arrangements will be completed today.
